YARMOUTH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Our 5th Grade Civil Rights team led our school in a "Day of Welcome" this morning. Thank you for all your work to support a safe, caring, and inclusive community at our school! We also appreciate the leadership of Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Kilpatrick, our Civil Rights Team moderators.

Congratulations to our Yarmouth Education Foundation winners! Ms. Shoukimas, Mr. Smith, and the Playground Committee (Communication Board), and Mr. Blatt and Ms. MacMullen (Earn Time Play System) were our YES grant winners. Thank you YEF!

Thank you to Erik Street, Director of Public Works, for spending time teaching our second-grade students today all about the work they do in our town!

With gratitude to all of the Veterans in our community for your service to America. Thinking of you on Veterans Day, and thanking you for all you did for our country. Our third graders decorated the halls with Veterans Day appreciation cards, some with messages to Veterans in their own lives.

Engineers from Sappi spent time with our STEAM classes today sharing all the work that they do. We appreciated having them visit with us! Do you suppose there are any future engineers in the audience today?

The Book Fair is open on Sunday, November 3 from 12 to 4! It is also open on Monday, November 4, and Wednesday, November 6, from 4 to 7 pm.

Thank you to our PTO for a fantastic Staff Appreciation Luncheon! What an amazing meal!

The pumpkin book characters are back!

We've had lots of wonderful field trips during the last few weeks. Our fifth-grade students had a great trip today to Libby & Sons Orchard. Thank you to the team for planning this exciting learning opportunity!

Please remember to vote at Yarmouth Town Hall today in the Special Election to fill one vacant seat on the Yarmouth School Committee. Polls are open until 8:00 p.m. Enjoy this beautiful day!

YES had a new school bus on the streets of town this morning- the "Walking School Bus"! Thanks to all the students and parents who participated in this fall tradition at YES. There was even an official police escort!

Our 4th-grade beginner band is up and running! Along with the chorus, Orff Ensemble, and 5th-grade band, we are ready for a great year! Thank you to Mrs. Witherell-Stebbins and Mrs. Troy for their dedication to our budding musicians!

The 24-25 YES Civil Rights Team had their first meeting! We have a great group of 5th-grade leaders who are excited to get our projects started. At the first meeting, students worked on posters for our upcoming Day of Welcome!

Band Demo day was a big hit with our fourth graders today!

Congratulations to Kristina Pelletier, who is the recipient of the National Association of Special Educators Award. Kristina has been recognized as the 2024 Outstanding Special Educator. We are thrilled to have Kristina as part of our YES team!
