August 11, 2020 Dear YES Families, Summer greetings! I hope that you have all had an opportunity to enjoy this beautiful Maine weather. It is hard to believe that in just a few short weeks we will be back at school. We are so excited to welcome back our returning YES students. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new Grade 2 students and those of you who have recently moved to Yarmouth and whose children will be joining us as transfer students. We are pleased that you all will be joining the YES community! Whether we have been busy at work, home, or play this summer I know that the start of this school year has not been far from our minds. I have greatly appreciated your patience and ongoing support as we continue to work through the planning process in these unprecedented circumstances. As Dr. Dolloff shared with you last week, the school committee has approved our start of the year at “Yellow- Hybrid- 50%” K-12 with the goal of working towards “Green- 100%” after October 2. There has been significant and ongoing planning by staff throughout the summer to have our school ready on September 8 with all the necessary structures and procedures in place. I am writing to share with you that on Monday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m. I will be hosting a Zoom Presentation/Q & A opportunity for parents to provide you with more detailed opening information specific to YES. I will send the link out to you later this week. Save the date! I have also enclosed a form for you to submit specific questions that you may have ahead of time. That can be found here: YES Q & A Session Questions Form. At the meeting, we will answer those questions and also provide an opportunity for you to ask questions live through the use of the chatbox. Also, I will record this session and send it out to everyone on Tuesday in case you are not available on Monday evening. My next communication will be this coming Friday, August 14. At that time I will email you information on which group your child has been placed in for the Hybrid 50% model- attending on either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday. I will also be confirming your child’s placement in all-remote learning for those of you who have chosen that option. In the meantime please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have. Thank you again for all your support! Best regards, Ryan Gleason, YES Principal ryan_gleason@yarmouthschools.org
