Dear YES Parents,
This fall we shared the September 2024 NWEA MTY (Gr. 3 - 5) or MPG (Gr. 2) scores with you. These scores are now posted on PowerSchool. You can access the Winter 2025 NWEA scores by following the steps here: Accessing Online Test Scores
These reading and math assessments provide additional information on student progress to help inform instruction. We also use this data as part of our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) process to monitor individual students and determine if they would benefit from additional support in these areas.
As you look over your child’s January results there are a few important things to be aware of:
These assessments allow teachers to see a snapshot of student achievement relative to the rest of the United States.
The NWEA assessment is one instrument completed on a given day in January. However, as a nationally normed common assessment, these results do help inform and support our instructional practices in reading and math.
With that said, please remember that fluctuations in scores do occur at times. We place great emphasis on the classroom curriculum and assessments that are aligned with our curriculum. This is the focus of mid-year parent-teacher conferences.
We hope that this is helpful information. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions about our common assessments. Many of you have upcoming parent-teacher conferences, while others have already completed their conferencing. The focus of mid-year conferencing is on the progress students are making toward their learning standards. We thank you for your continued partnership!
Best,
Ryan Gleason, YES Principal & Molly Kilpatrick, YES Assistant Principal
