Maine fall 2020

Dear YHS Families,

The changing foliage and cooler temperatures signify another beautiful fall in Maine as we not only wrap up the first two months of school, but also look ahead to several significant events taking place the first week of November at Yarmouth High School.

First, this year’s elections will be held at Yarmouth High School on Tuesday, November 3rd.  In order to provide voters in our community with safe and socially distanced space for voting, there will be no students on campus on this day.  Students will have a “remote” day of learning, where they will be expected to report online to their regularly scheduled classes from 8 to 2 pm.  Teachers will design a day of instruction to ensure that students are not on their screens for the entire six hours.  We will be providing transportation to PATHS students to attend their vocational classes, and they will be brought home after their morning classes in Portland.

It is also important to note that Friday, November 6th marks the end of the first quarter.  Students should take care of their academic responsibilities as the quarter draws to an end; please take time to review your student’s progress in PowerSchool and email your student’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns.   Learning Area conferences, Yarmouth’s version of parent-teacher conferences, will be held online in November, and teachers will be sharing more information with parents later this month.

A reminder to the Class of 2021 families that Senior Yearbook Ads are also due November 6th.  Please see this link regarding Class of 2021 yearbook information.

Respectfully,

Eric Klein, Amy Bongard, and David Creech - YHS Administrative Team
